is more technology always better?

I have something a little bit different for you this week – rather than introducing new tech or new techniques, today is a bit more about reflection on educational technology, and why we use it.

In this EdSurge opinion piece, “The Answer for Schools Is Not More Technology. It’s Teachers and Human Connection,” the author reflects on the use (overuse?) of technology in the classroom. This particular article focuses on K12 – specifically, elementary education – but it does beg the Economics question, “Is more always preferred to less?”  I challenge you this week to consider this question as it applies to higher education, as well:
  • Is more technology always better?
  • How do you assess when additional technology will actually translate to value added in terms of student learning?
  • How do you know when to inject more of the human element, rather than more fun tech?
  • With increased use of technology, what is the role (present and future) of the instructor?
For me, this was the quote from the article that resonated the most:

If this article was of interest to you, I encourage you to peruse the complete series, “A Decade in Review: Reflections on 10 Years in Education Technology.”

You read the entire blog post! Huzzah! OK, here's an oldie but a goodie - don't forget to try Animoto, either as an instructional tool or as a student project tool!!
HAPPY BELATED GROUNDHOG DAY!

This is very off subject, Howdy, but I wanted to know if blogs use WYSIWYG editors
Or if you have to code with HTML automatically. I 'm beginning to
A blog soon, but I don't have any coding experience, so I needed advice.
