There is a range of contextualization, perhaps from one small stakes assignment to a fully integrated LC, and other models like a project across multiple classes. This workshop will include whole-group interactive work related to contextualization in general and small group work to begin the process of contextualizing part or all your course for a FOI.

Self-Care for Faculty During Distance Learning with Keynote, Dori DiPietro January 12, 2021 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM Despite the endless preparation, last semester was tough for many of us. Whether it was compassion fatigue with our students, transitioning ourselves or our children to online classes, or coping with uncertainty and current events educators played an essential role. As we prepare for another semester learn some self-care strategies for faculty during distance learning with guest speaker, Dori DiPietro. Dori DiPetrio from MCC will offer strategies for Self-Care for Faculty During Distance Learning. Click here to Join Recorded Friday 11/13/2020 (with parts of 11/12/2020 spliced in) in the Chandler-Gilbert Community College virtual environment with CGCC faculty and staff. In "Key Things for Faculty to Know About Fields of Interests (FOIs) and Opportunities for Faculty Engagement with FOIs," Student Affairs staff and faculty presented information about the FOI framework and the specific FOIs academic disciplines connect to which will help faculty point students to FOI resources. Information about how Analysts (advisors) and Peer Mentors help students get in a FOI and program of study and strategies being used to assist them along the way was also shared. Faculty presented how to participate in a FOI Canvas course to connect to students, how to be part of the FOI team, and how a discipline can connect to other FOIs through contextualized General Education courses. Feel free to reach out to Chris Schnick, Dean of Arts and Sciences for more information: chris.schnick@cgc.edu.
