  • The Accessibility Peak course will open on the first meeting date.
  • Engage in live-online sessions via Webex every other Thursday for 9 weeks.
  • Between the live-online sessions participants will work asynchronously in the Canvas course.
  • All materials and submissions due by 11:59 pm July 31, 2024.

 Base Camp: Essentials for Instruction in Multiple Modalities is designed to familiarize faculty with the basic tools and skills that lead to teaching success, regardless of the modality of instruction. Base Camp is the first step for faculty in mastering the mountain that is true, high-quality instruction. ​After successful completion of the online and live portions of the workshop, first-time participants can receive 16 hours of Faculty Professional Growth or 16 hours of Adjunct Faculty Tier Progression Credit.

Format
  • Base Camp utilizes a Hybrid, Live-Online format.
  • Engage in live-online sessions via Webex daily for a half-hour opening session and a half-hour closing session.
  • Between the live-online sessions participants will work asynchronously in the Base Camp Headquarters Canvas course and in their Base Camp Developmental Shell.

Hybrid Summit is designed to provide participants with the resources and strategies to begin planning (or revising) a successful hybrid course. The Hybrid Summit workshop focuses on best practices for teaching hybrid courses with maximum effectiveness. After successful completion of the online and live portions of the workshop, first-time participants can receive 9 hours of Faculty Professional Growth or 9 hours of Adjunct Faculty Tier Progression Credit.

  • Hybrid Summit utilizes an in-person hybrid format.
  • The Hybrid Summit Canvas course will open one week prior to the in-person session.
  • Complete 3-hours of pre-work asynchronously prior to attending one of the 3-hour in-person sessions.
  • Attend a 3-hour in-person session at CGCC - Pecos Campus.
  • Complete the remainder 3-hours of asynchronous activities in Canvas with all materials and submissions due one week after the in-person session.

This series of workshops provide a holistic experience about the navigational journey of Indigenous students in higher education in terms of equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Their journey includes topics and issues such as colonial entanglement and de-colonization that speak on the current forms of tribal and inter-tribal governments (e.g., as trustees/stakeholders of education) and the contemporary positionality of intertribal narratives on higher education.

Colonial Thinking, and its opposite, Indigenous Thinking, have historically impacted most civilizations. In this workshop, we will examine how colonial thinking looks and works and is pervasive in our work and daily life. Learn about their implications for expanding Indigenous Innovation.

​Understanding Decolonization Seeing and Attempting to Undo Harms

Description:
Once the effects of Colonization are grasped and understood - a process of decolonization is needed for all people, processes, and systems. Decolonization requires self awareness, identifying and admitting to being situational participants to colonial thinking. It also asks for us to identify and limit the harm done by colonization. Explore how we can foster Indigenous Innovation by applying these principles within American education.

Attempting to Return to lndigeneity and Indigenous Ways of Being

lndigeneity offers cultural thoughts, ideas, and concepts that can improve learning outcomes. Explore how we 
can foster Indigenous Innovation by applying these principles within. Moving beyond decolonization, and instead shifting toward lndigeneity, a concept that recognizes the vital contribution and inclusion of Indigenous culture, religion, perspective, and holism in institutional spaces to spark and empower indigenous innovation, creates a more positive experience for the Indigenous college student and others.

​​As part of its continuing efforts to support high quality teaching in multiple modalities the CTLA is providing two sessions of Hybrid Summit this August before the week of accountability. If you are teaching hybrid courses for Fall 2022 don't miss out on this opportunity! Seats are limited.

Description
The Summit will include best practices in teaching hybrid courses for maximum effectiveness including:
  • Preparing students for success in hybrid environment
  • Creating seamless online/in-person student experience
  • Fostering engagement online/in-person
  • Collaborating with peers in person
Format
The format of the workshop models one way to run a hybrid course. 

  1. The Hybrid Summit Canvas course will open around July 26th, 2022
  2. Participants are expected to complete 3-hours of pre-work asynchronously prior to attending one of the 3-hour in-person sessions.
  3. All pre-work is due at 5 PM on Monday August 1st.
  4. Attend the 3-hour in-person portion of Hybrid Summit either the evening of 8/2 or morning of 8/3 - see the registration below.
  5. Following the 3-hour in-person session, participants will complete the remainder 3-hours of asynchronous activities in Canvas due August 10th by 5 PM.

Faculty will receive 9-hours of compensation for successful completion of the online and in-person portions of the course.
