 Often scarce and unpredictable, the presence of water in the desert southwest is precious and life-affirming. In uncertain times, rains that punctuate or even end our droughts replenish and renew the landscape. They fill us with hope as we reimagine a more sustainable future. Learning communities may play a similar role in education. CGCC is hosting this year's National Learning Communities Conference. The theme for this year’s NLCC Like Water in the Desert: Learning Communities Replenished, Renewed, Reimagined invites LC practitioners to share their innovations in sustaining and renewing learning communities during the pandemic. This institute will provide participants with 12+ hours of dedicated time with leads and experienced practitioners of the AAC&U High-Impact Practices you are most interested in integrating into your classes and other student learning experiences. Participants will be able to work one-on-one and in small groups with HIP initiative leaders to formulate, deepen, and strengthen learning experiences that seamlessly integrate multiple HIPs, enabling students to more quickly and easily achieve course, program, and institutional outcomes. Participants will be expected to implement their HIPs-stacked project/assignment in one or more of their CGCC Fall 22 classes and to share their work with interested CGCC faculty in Spring 2023. WHERE? The institute will take place in person at CGCC. WHEN? May 18 - 19th COMPENSATION: Participants will be compensated for up to 17 hrs at the summer faculty rate (~$31/hr): 12 hours for May 18th & 19th, and up to 5 additional hours of individual work and/or consultation with HIPs leads in June, July, or August (virtually or in person) before the Fall 22 semester starts. Time: 2:00 pm The focus of this final webinar is: High Impact Practices of Undergraduate Research Experiences During the webinar speaker Professor James Hewlett from Fingerlakes Community College will share his story on how he built the large network on undergraduate research (CCURI) by starting in his one course, some of his successes working on funded projects, data on how undergraduate research has impacted the self efficacy, persistence and success of his students.  The University of Tennessee, Knoxville Division of Teaching and Learning Innovation is hosting it annual Innovative Teaching and Learning Conference virtually on Tuesday, March 29th, 2022 from 8:45am to 5:30pm (Eastern Standard Time). Dropout Detective integrates with Canvas to analyze course data and provide a daily Risk Index dashboard filtering the most at-risk students to the top. Student Allies can drill into the individual student's profile to determine the risk reasons and develop a pro-active intervention plan aimed at student success and retention.
